How Does Zeolite Work?

How Does Zeolite Work?

Zeolite is an alkaline mineral that is very porous and is one of the very few minerals that is negatively charged by nature. Since most toxins, such as heavy metals, radiation, and pesticides, are positively charged, zeolite is pulled to the toxins, like a magnet, and sucks them up into its structure. These dangerous substances become trapped in zeolite’s cage structure, and are then safely and gently carried out of the body.

What Does Zeolite Bind to?

Zeolite has a strong negative charge and thus is attracted to positively charged molecules. Since most of the things that don't belong in our bodies are positively charged, zeolite can be an effective detox method for a number of toxic elements that are draining our health. Here are a few of the things zeolite binds to:

Heavy Metals- Heavy metals are toxic metals that accumulate in our bodies over time and put an enormous burden on our immune and nervous systems, and make our bodies work overtime to stay healthy. Eventually our bodies lose the ability to keep up with the excess demand and symptoms such as chronic fatigue, brain fog, irritability, and a host of other symptoms and conditions can manifest. Zeolite can target hidden metals such as lead, cadmium, and arsenic among other in your body and trap them in its cage-like structure for safe removal. Once the heavy metal burden is lifted your body can start functionally at its peak potential again.

Environmental Toxins- In the 21st century we face an unprecedented number of toxic stressors in our daily lives. From the air you breathe, to the food you eat - toxins are everywhere. Over time these toxins accumulate in your body wreaking havoc on your health.  Fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, a weakened immune system, and countless health issues are common side effects when these toxins build up. Since these toxins have a positive charge most of them will fall victim to zeolites strong binding capacity for safe removal from the body.

Mold-  Mold toxicity is increasingly becoming recognized as a serious problem and a player in a number of serious chronic conditions. Even if you are not currently exposed to mold in your home or workplace it is possible that mold from a previous exposure is multiplying in your body. Mold spores can linger and continue replicating in your body for years even in the absence of external mold exposure. Zeolite is an incredible detoxifier of mold and is a must have in any mold detox protocol.

Radioactive Materials- After being exposed to ionizing radiation, radioactive materials are left in your body and will stick around for years if you don't take action to remove them. Chances are you've got a fair amount of radioactive materials hanging around in your body which have accumulated over the years from CT scans, Mammograms, X-Rays, naturally occurring radiation like radon, medical radiation procedures, nuclear fallout, etc. Zeolite is a fantastic tool to help remove leftover radiation from your body.

Microbial Pathogens-  Zeolite can bind to number of pathogenic microbes including Candida and a host of viruses. Zeolite has antiviral properties due to its potential ability to absorb viral particles.  A study conducted to evaluate the antiviral properties of micronized clinoptilolite zeolite (what we use in ZeoBoost™) showed promise that zeolite can be used to inhibit viral replication. The study stated that the antiviral effect of the zeolite seems to be non-specific and is more likely based on the incorporation of viral particles into pores of zeolite aggregates than ion exchange properties of clinoptilolite. This means that zeolite may be effective against a whole host of viruses, not just the viruses used in the study. It is interesting to note that the low dose of zeolite in the study "induced a very low antiviral effect or the antiviral was not observed at all" but the high dose "induced a significant inhibitory effect upon viral proliferation." This supports the views I have shared on previous blog posts and will cover later on this page about the importance of proper zeolite dosing.

Zeolite and Your Immune System

An effective two-step approach to optimising the immune system is one: remove immune-drainers, and two: add immune boosters. Without removing toxic elements that are compromising immune function step two is very limited. Metals, environmental toxicants, moulds, radioactive materials, and pathogenic microbes are a few of the immune-draining toxic elements that many of us have picked up over the years and are harbouring in our bodies. Zeolite can absorb many of these toxic elements and remove them from your body, freeing your immune system to focus its energy on other issues such as viral invaders.

Zeolite vs Activated Charcoal and Bentonite Clay

There are a number of great natural binders out there including activated charcoal and bentonite clay. These are fantastic products and can be very helpful in a detox protocol. But binders such as charcoal and bentonite clay don't have the same capabilities as zeolite clay. Charcoal and bentonite are great at mopping up toxins in the gut and even in the blood stream. But they don't have the binding capacity of a high-quality zeolite clay. Quality Zeolite products have a stronger negative charge enabling them to pull toxic elements through the cell membrane, trapping them into its cage-like structure. This allows for a whole new level of detox. Bentonite clay and charcoal may be used in conjunction with zeolite in a detox protocol but it's my opinion that zeolite should be included and considered the primary agent for a systemic detox.

Does Particle Size Matter?

Yes! The particle size of the zeolite will determine it's function. If the zeolite is a larger particle size it will act as a binder in the gut, but won't be effective at traveling through the blood and trapping metals and toxins. Zeolite with a small particle size offers a system solution and more effective whole body detox, however no zeolite will be sticking around the gut to act as a binder. The solution... Instead of offering one particle size, our zeolite range from 0 to 40 microns with 80% of the micron particles being less than 10 microns and the other 20% being from 10-40 microns. This range in microns insures a more complete full-body detox. Smaller zeolite particles are carried into the bloodstream for cellular detox, while the larger particles stay in the digestive tract to act as a binder. This offers a more balanced detox and reduces die off reactions common with many zeolite supplements.

Is Zeolite Safe?

Yes, absolutely...well at least the high-quality micronised ZeoOne, I can't speak to the safety of other zeolite products on the market. There are hundreds of types of zeolite, but we are only talking about DynaCol ZeoOne zeolite here, which is the only type of zeolite that is used in supplements. Zeolite is a natural mineral and has a variety of elements in it. It is important to note that the structure of zeolite does not get broken down in the body. Because zeolite does not get broken down in the body, it does not leech any elements that make up the compound. Zeolite is not like an essential mineral that gets absorbed in the body and utilised for cellular functions. Zeolite is not absorbed in your body. It simply passes through your blood stream collecting positively charged toxic elements and then is excreted. Therefore you cannot overdose on zeolite and you cannot poison yourself with zeolite.

Zeolite: The Dosing Paradox

The traditional approach, which I highly recommend with most supplements, is to start with a very low dose and work your way up. Starting with a high dose of certain supplements could cause an adverse reaction or result in an unwanted detox reaction. This is especially important to consider with more sensitive individuals who often have strong reactions, both positive and negative when introducing new supplements. Someone on the Lyme/mould/MCAS spectrum is a prime example of this type of individual.

The biggest mistake I see people making with zeolite supplementation is taking too low of a dose. The traditional start low and slow approach to supplements does not apply with zeolite and in fact can be dangerous. Too low of a  dose will result in detox reactions, redistribution of toxins, and an ineffective detox. In fact, although it seems counter-intuitive, if you experience a detox reaction from taking zeolite you should take a higher dose immediately. The higher the dose, the less likely you are to experience a detox reaction and redistribution of toxins.  Utilising a high-quality zeolite powder can expedite your results and reduce or eliminate the detox reaction, even in sensitive individuals.

As far as I can tell there are two main reasons that a higher dose of zeolite is safer and more effective than a lower dose.

Reason One- Level of affinity. Zeolite has a strong negative charge and thus is attracted to positively charged molecules. Since most toxins, such as heavy metals, radiation, and pesticides, are positively charged, zeolite is pulled to the toxins, like a magnet, and sucks them up into its structure. This makes zeolite an effective detox method for a number of toxic elements. But the key here is that zeolite is more attracted to certain toxic elements than others. For example, zeolite has a higher affinity for lead than for mercury. So let's say the zeolite enters your bloodstream and binds to mercury. Then it continues through the blood stream and finds some lead. The zeolite will drop the mercury and bind to the lead because it is more attracted to the lead. If a high dose of zeolite was consumed then there is probably enough extra zeolite in the blood to pick up the dropped mercury. If a low dose was taken the mercury may be redistributed and result in a detox reaction. Note- this is one reason that staying on zeolite for an extended period of time may be important. It may take months before the zeolite really starts effectively detoxing mercury depending on how many other toxins are in your body that are the priority for zeolite.

Reason Two- Zeolite in the gut. Particle size is critical. Many zeolite products boast a small particle size but lack the ability to catch toxins in the gut. So the higher the dose of zeolite, the more large zeolite particles are left in the gut to act as a binder.

Let's consider the dosing dilemma of Susanna (fake name used to protect identity). Susanna has been battling chronic Lyme, mould illness, EMF sensitivity, heavy metal toxicity etc. for many years. She has tried almost everything in her search for a health solution that works. The challenge has been that she is so toxic she hasn't been able to stay on any detox protocol or supplement regimen. She can't even utilise wellness technology like PEMF mats without experiencing a severe detox reaction. Susanna ordered ZeoOne™ in hopes that this was the answer that she has been looking for. She was skeptical of the recommendation of taking 2 teaspoons 3x per day (15 grams). She decided to start with 1/8 of a teaspoon to see how she would feel...She ended up bed ridden for 3 days. Terrible weakness and neurological symptoms are a couple of the debilitating symptoms that resulted from this low dose. After receiving a call from Susanna informing me that the ZeoOne™ did not work but made her worse I asked how much she took. After learning of the 1/8 teaspoon dose I encouraged her to immediately take 2 teaspoons. She was weary of the idea but decided to give it a try based on my explanation. She called me back 60 minutes later in unbelief...She felt incredible! She joyfully explained that her fatigue and brain fog started lifting within 10 minutes of the 2 teaspoon dose. Susanna began experimenting with various doses and confirmed that low doses made her feel terrible, while high doses made her feel better than she has felt in years. The higher the dose the better! Susanna is now taking 12 teaspoons per day and loving every spoonful of ZeoOne™!

in order to effectively detox with zeolite you need a relatively high dose, and the more toxic you are the higher dose you need. I recommend starting with 15 grams of powdered zeolite per day divided into three doses. If you experience a detox reaction raise your dose. I recommend staying on this dose for at lest 90 days and then considering lowering the dose to 5 grams, taken once per day for maintenance. Zeolite is not absorbed by the body so you cannot overdose on it.

How to Choose a Quality Zeolite Supplement

The two most important aspects to consider when utilising zeolite for detox are quality and quantity. It's important to choose a quality, effective zeolite product and also to take it at the necessary dose. Utilising a poor quality zeolite or taking the wrong dose can result in negative outcomes. Poor quality zeolite supplements may be contaminated with toxic elements which lower the total binding power of the zeolite in your body. Particle size in also important. A lot of the zeolite on the market is crushed / milled to create a powder. This process breaks the crystalline structure of the zeolite and broken zeolite  powder is a burden on the body. Our unique 5th Generation micronisation process uses an advanced technique that does not break the crystalline structure and we're also able to get the zeolite to a perfect size of 5 - 8 micron. Any smaller than that it is too small to fit the heavy metals and toxins and any larger makes it ineffective.
Do research and make sure that the zeolite you're looking at is properly micronised not milled/crushed and is under the 10 micron, you'll find most of the one on the market are between 40 - 80 micron and that is why they are cheap.

What About Liquid Zeolite?

A number of zeolite products have saturated the market in recent years, and what seems to be trending in the zeolite industry right now are "liquid zeolite" products.

The truth is that liquid zeolite supplements are simply small amounts of zeolite powder in water (or any other type of liquid) because zeolite cannot be liquefied. Years ago, a process was developed to liquefy zeolite by a pharmaceutical company. Unfortunately, the chemists discovered that when zeolite was liquefied, it was no longer zeolite since the essential porous structure of the mineral was destroyed. Without this cage-like structure, zeolite CANNOT detox. Besides the fact that zeolite doesn’t detox after being liquefied, liquid zeolite supplement companies do not actually liquefy their zeolite because it requires an expensive patent licensing from the pharmaceutical company to use their liquefaction process. Further, it is a highly complex process to carry out using very specific lab equipment. It is for these reasons that zeolite supplement companies are not actually liquefying the zeolite, but simply mixing minuscule amounts of zeolite powder into a liquid. The amount of zeolite in these products is typically so low, that it is virtually ineffective for detoxing.

“Liquid” zeolite supplement companies have made a name for themselves within the marketplace with ridiculous claims about what their products can do compared to powdered or encapsulated zeolite. Some of the most common ones include entering the bloodstream faster, passing the blood-brain barrier, being “activated” so it detoxes more efficiently, needing to take a certain amount of drops or sprays a day to build up a detox, or "nano" sized zeolite, which wouldn't even be large enough to absorb a heavy metal molecule. All these claims are just marketing propaganda to entice customers and make their products stand out.

We've already covered the importance of proper zeolite dosing. Taking the wrong dose of zeolite can result in negative outcomes.  A small dose will result in detox reactions, redistribution of toxins, and an ineffective detox. In order to effectively detox with zeolite you need a relatively high dose, and the more toxic you are the higher dose you need. The therapeutic doses cannot be achieved with liquid zeolite supplements. For most liquid zeolite products you would need to take over 100 bottles per day to get the proper dose. Many people are tricked into thinking that their liquid zeolite supplement is working because they are experiencing a detox reaction. Yes, it is working to some extent but the fact that you are experiencing a reaction means you need a way higher dose. Utilising a high-quality zeolite powder can expedite your results and reduce or eliminate the detox reaction, even in sensitive individuals.

Many liquid zeolite products on the market are outrageously priced. For comparison, our $29 jar of ZeoOne™ contains between 600 and 1200 times the amount of zeolite than most liquid zeolite products on the market.

What is the difference between zeolite and bentonite clay?

Bentonite is an aluminosilicate and is described as a swelling clay. It has a two dimensional sheet structure into which toxic matter is absorbed. Its cation exchange capacity is (from memory) an average of about 60 meq/100 g and its pH level is approximately 10. Taking bentonite clay may give you a bloated feeling in your stomach as the clay swells in size on contact with water.

Zeolite is a hydrated aluminosilicate. It has a three dimensional structure. Each grain is riddled with tiny pores and channels where water is captured along with toxic matter. It is a lot more powerful than any clay, having an average cation exchange capacity of 150 meq/100 g. Its pH is 7.4

While natural supplements are not recommended in combination with a Bentonite clay (being a swelling clay) due to a concern over drawing beneficial nutrients from the body

And what about nanoparticles?

The grain size of Zeolite and Bentonite should not be too small meaning that it should contain no nanoparticles. According to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, there are no cases in the research literature where the vessel walls of the digestive tract absorb or allow inorganic nanoparticles to pass through. In order to exclude possible risks as a precaution, we use Zeolite and Bentonite with grain sizes in the micrometre range in our natural medical products. For clarification: 1 micrometre = 1000 nanometres or 1 nanometre = 0.001 micrometres.

For whom are Zeolite suitable?

For the whole family to stay healthy.

For prevention: to bind unwanted pollutants in the digestive system even before they are absorbed by the organism.

For relief: The accumulation of toxic metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, aluminum and other substances such as ammonium and histamine can cause a variety of chronic diseases. The pollutant-binding and detoxifying properties of the  Zeolite can be used therapeutically or concomitantly with therapy, as required, especially in cases of increased histamine exposure and histamine intolerance such as allergies, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver dysfunction or increased liver exposure due to ammonium compounds.

Are the medical products suitable for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children?

The worldwide widespread use of Zeolite in empirical medicine has not led to any indication of a risk in use during pregnancy, lactation and in children. However, results of sufficient scientific studies in the sense of orthodox medicine are not available. Therefore, the medical products should only be used during pregnancy, lactation and in children after consultation with a doctor.

Are there any undesirable side effects?

Clinoptilolite Zeolite are non-toxic. In rare cases, constipation may occur if fluid intake is too low. This effect is dose-dependent and can be avoided by sufficient hydration and dose reduction.

Are there any intolerances?

There are no known intolerances.

What is important for first-time users?

Unless prescribed otherwise by your doctor, please start slow introduction with 1 daily application for a few days then can be increased slowly to 2 times daily, maximum 3 times daily. Experience has shown that in cases of high sensitivity or longer pauses, the application should start slowly with lower dosages and should also be slowly increased to the individual maintenance dose.

Medicinal Uses of Zeolite

People who believe zeolite is medicinal use the mineral to remove heavy metals and other free radicals from the body. It is also used to relieve acid reflux and to balance and establish optimal pH levels. It is also believed to help lower blood sugar in patients with serious cases of diabetes. Zeolite is typically available in liquid form. People taking zeolite mix and drink between three and 15 drops of the liquid with water three times a day, depending on their cleansing regimen.

Is zeolite better than bentonite?

The zeolite clumping litter is 40% more effective than the bentonite clumping litter. The result is a positive net benefit of bulk density and absorbency when using zeolite clumping litter

Whats the difference between zeolite and bentonite?

Zeolite and Bentonite are both known as effective pollutant binders. The difference lies in the mineralogical structure. Zeolite, as a microporous tuff rock, has a crystal lattice structure with cavities and Bentonite, as a clay mineral, has a layered structure that swells in water and forms a gel film.

What does zeolite remove?

The most important property of zeolites is the removal of ammonia (NH3) and ammonium (NH4+). ... Zeolites remove ammonium ions by means of ion-exchange and, at higher concentration, adsorption. The ammonium ions present in the wastewater are exchanged for sodium ions.

Does zeolite remove mold toxins?

Zeolite is effective at binding to mycotoxins as well as other toxins and removing them from the body (1). It can also act as an antioxidant AND strengthen the intestinal wall integrity (3).

How fast does zeolite remove ammonia?

24-48 hours

Use 250 mL (1 cup) of ZeoOne Zeolite™ for every 200 L (50 US gallons). For smaller aquariums, the equivalent dose is 5 mL (1 level teaspoon) per 4 L (1 US gallon). This amount of  Zeolite will remove up to 0.5 mg/L ammonia. Monitor ammonia levels, which should drop to zero within 24-48 hours

Can bentonite clay be harmful?

FDA has determined that the product contains elevated lead levels and may pose a lead poisoning risk. ). ... FDA laboratories have found elevated levels of lead in “Best Bentonite Clay.” Exposure to lead can cause serious damage to the central nervous system, kidneys, and immune system.23 Mar 2016

Zeolite Detox Guide with Zeolite Powder Benefits

Zeolite is one of the most fascinating and powerful supplements on the market today. I truly believe in the healing potential of this amazing substance when used properly. I am frustrated with the misinformation and abundance of low-quality zeolite supplements that have saturated the market and given zeolite a bad name. This article is designed to empower you with knowledge on how to effectively use zeolite supplements to help you and your family reach the next level in your healing journey.  Let's get started.

The name zeolite originates from the Greek words ‘zeo’(to boil) and ‘litos’ (a stone). Zeolite is a silica-based volcanic ash (sand-like mineral) that forms over time when ash and lava from volcanoes chemically react with sea water. This results in a compound with a very strong “cage-like” structure and negative charge.

This allows for a whole new level of detox. Bentonite clay and charcoal may be used in conjunction with zeolite in a detox protocol but it's my opinion that zeolite should be included and considered the primary agent for a systemic detox. Another key to consider when using bentonite clay is that it isn't selective like zeolite meaning it attaches to everything with a positive charge including minerals. Zeolite selects what it binds to based on atomic weight so you don't have to worry about it depleting your body of essential minerals.

Does Particle Size Matter?

Yes! The particle size of the zeolite will determine its function. If the zeolite is a larger particle size it will act as a binder in the gut, but won't be effective at traveling through the blood and trapping metals and toxins. Smaller zeolite particles are carried into the bloodstream for cellular detox, while the larger particles stay in the digestive tract to act as a binder. This offers a more balanced detox and reduces die off reactions common with many zeolite supplements. Another advantage of utilizing a range of particle sizes is that toxic elements come in all different shapes and sizes. If only the smallest possible zeolite particles are used (which some liquid zeolite companies boast) it is likely that a number of toxic elements in the body will be too large to fit in zeolite's cage-like structure.

Is Zeolite Safe?

Yes, absolutely...well at least the high-quality zeolite we utilise in ZeoOne™. I can't speak to the safety of other zeolite products on the market. Our zeolite goes through a proprietary process to remove any toxic elements or contamination and is micronized for human consumption. It is noteworthy that there are hundreds of types of zeolite, but we are only talking about ZeoOne zeolite here, which is the primary type of zeolite that is used in supplements. Zeolite is a natural mineral and has a variety of elements in it. It is important to note that the structure of zeolite does not get broken down in the body. Recommended Detox Dose

in order to effectively detox with zeolite you need a relatively high dose, and the more toxic you are the higher dose you need. I recommend starting with 15 grams (6 level teaspoons) of powdered zeolite per day divided into three doses. If all goes well at that dose I recommend staying on this dose for at lest 90 days and then considering lowering the dose to 5 grams, taken once per day for maintenance. If symptoms arise while taking 15 grams per day a number of people have successfully alleviated their symptoms by upping the dose to 30 or 45 grams per day for a while before lowering the dose. Remember that zeolite is not absorbed by the body so you cannot overdose on it.  The above mentioned dose recommendations are general guidelines and there may be a better dosing strategy for you so I suggest experimenting with various doses to find what works best for you.

"Holy Shift" Reactions

Taking the proper dose of zeolite can greatly reduce your chances of experiencing a detox reaction by reducing the redistribution of toxins and metals but sometimes "shift happens" and "holy shift" symptoms may be unavoidable. When you first start taking zeolite a major transformation begins to take place. Metals and other toxic elements are uprooted and removed and pathogenic microbes are disrupted. This shifting process can be stressful and result in a number of reactions. Everybody responds a little differently to zeolite based on their toxic load and microbial activity. The more toxic an individual the more likely a reaction will occur because it will result in a more dramatic shift/transformation in the body. As toxic elements are removed and microbes are balanced your body begins shifting into a healthier state.  During this shift some will experience undesirable side effects which might make them say, “holy shift what is happening to me?”  The more toxic or gut-impaired an individual the more likely that they will experience “holy shift” symptoms.

Zeolite and Mineral Absorption

Zeolite has the potential to increase mineral levels in your body by removing metals that are competing with essential minerals for absorption. So although zeolite doesn't contain any bioavailable minerals it could work more effectively than mineral supplements to balance mineral levels in your body...pretty cool! Increased mineral absorption can lead to a number of positive biological changes but must be considered when taking certain medications. For example zeolite could raise iodine levels by removing metals that are competing with iodine for absorption. If this happens while you are on synthetic thyroid hormones it is possible that you may need to lower the dose of the medication because your thyroid may start working more efficiently due to the increase in iodine absorption.

Zeolite and the Silica/Aluminium Ratio

There are many people including some very respectable health care professionals who are stressing the importance of utilizing zeolite products with a specific Aluminium/Silica ratio. The logic stems from the idea that an improper ratio will lead to the absorption of aluminium and other metals in your body.

This whole debate began when an article surfaced suggesting that many zeolite products on the market are leaching toxic metals including aluminium and lead into your body. Conveniently, this was at the time of the release of the author of the article's new zeolite supplement which he was promoting heavily. I don't want to judge this individual because I can't say for sure what his motives were in writing this article and I think he is doing a lot of good in the world but I think that his article is inaccurate and it has lead to no small dissension in the zeolite community. Many respectable doctors and health care professionals read his article and took it to heart, without taking a deep dive into the facts to find the real truth.

The chemical name for clinoptilolite zeolite is aluminosilicate. So yes, zeolite does contain aluminium and silica. The key here is that zeolite is a naturally occurring volcanic mineral, so we can't control the ratio of silica to aluminium. If we tried to alter the naturally occurring structure of zeolite the efficacy of the product would go down and we would run into a whole host of other problems. Zeolite is a natural mineral and has a variety of elements in it. It is important to note that the structure of zeolite does not get broken down in the body. Because zeolite does not get broken down in the body, it does not leech any elements that make up the compound. Zeolite is not like an essential mineral that gets absorbed in the body and utilized for cellular functions. Zeolite is not absorbed in your body. It simply passes through your blood stream collecting positively charged toxic elements and then is excreted. Therefore you cannot overdose on zeolite and you cannot poison yourself with zeolite. Nothing in the structure of zeolite is bioavailable.

Remember that zeolite is a volcanic mineral....it originated from lava so you can imagine that it would take some pretty intense conditions to break it down. Zeolite can even be baked in an oven at high temperatures  in baked goods and then consumed without losing any of its health benefits. 450 degrees in the oven is nothing compared to the temperature of hot lava which surpasses 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit. Remember that the key to zeolite is that it does not break down, but rather passes through your body collecting toxic elements before being excreted.

To prove that zeolite stays intact and does not leach any elements from its structure, a 3rd party test was conducted by an accredited laboratory. The test, known as a gastric leach test, exposed a dose of the zeolite we use in ZeoOne to a hydrochloric solution to mimic stomach acid—the harshest environment within the body. The results clearly demonstrated that our zeolite does not leach any metals when circulating in the human body.

Yes, absolutely...well at least the high-quality ZeoOne™ Dynacol™ Zeolite powder, I can't speak to the safety of other zeolite products on the market. There are hundreds of types of zeolite. Zeolite is a volcanic mineral and has an array of elements in it because it comes from the core of the Earth. The cage of the zeolite structure is so strong that there is no condition harsh enough in the body to break it down. This means that nothing is leached from the zeolite structure.

How to Choose a Quality Zeolite Supplement

The two most important aspects to consider when utilizing zeolite for detox are quality and quantity. It's important to choose a quality, effective zeolite product and also to take it at the necessary dose. Utilizing a poor quality zeolite or taking the wrong dose can result in negative outcomes. Poor quality zeolite supplements may be contaminated with toxic elements which lower the total binding power of the zeolite in your body.  Here are four things to look for in a zeolite product:

Microninized: Zeolite Micronization is an expensive process that Zeolite supplement companies rarely invest in.  Micronization is important for Zeolite supplements because the smaller Zeolite particles are able to leave the gut, circulate throughout the body, and travel deeper into tissues and between cells for a more thorough detox. A majority of other Zeolite supplement companies rely on milling to reduce the particle size. Milling, conducted at the mine, is where the Zeolite is crushed by machines, causing the structure of the Zeolite to be compromised.

Cleaned: Naturally occurring zeolite is often contaminated with a number of toxic elements due to its strong binding capabilities. It is important that the zeolite is cleaned via a proprietary cleaning process prior to micronization. The cleaner the zeolite, the more binding capacity it will have.

Particle size: A combination of small and large particle size offers the most comprehensive zeolite detox. For example ZeoOne™ Dynacol™ Zeolite powder contains 80% micronized particles which enter the blood stream and search for toxic elements to trap. These micronized particles are small enough to cross the blood-brain barrier and trap metals and toxins.  20% of the zeolite is a larger particle size which sticks around in the gut and acts as a binder.

Choose Powder: Another key is to utilize zeolite powder instead of liquid zeolite supplements that have recently flooded the market. Liquid zeolite supplements lack the dose and value the powdered zeolite offers.

What About Liquid Zeolite?

A number of zeolite products have saturated the market in recent years, and what seems to be trending in the zeolite industry right now are "liquid zeolite" products.

First of all just to clarify, liquid zeolite is not actually liquefied zeolite, most brand are powdered zeolite mixed with water. Powdered zeolite is sometimes the same as the liquid except in a powdered form that you can mix with water at home and make your own "liquid zeolite." So we are essentially talking about the same zeolite being used. In some cases however liquid zeolite supplements exclusively contain nanosized zeolite particles which are smaller than what is used in many powdered zeolite supplements. The particle sizes in the nanosized liquid zeolite supplements are usually around 2 microns or less. The idea here is that these nanoparticles can cross the blood brain barrier and provide a full-body detox while many of the powdered zeolite supplements only detox the gut. This is great in theory but in reality these liquid zeolite supplements are limited in what they can detox. If the zeolite cage-like structure is only 2 microns in size then it will only be able to trap toxic elements that are smaller than 2 microns. ZeoOne™ also contains these nanosized particles but also includes a range of larger particles for a more comprehensive detox. I also recommend to stick to natural zeolite, as this is what all the safety and effectiveness research were done on, not synthetic zeolite.

Utilizing a high-quality zeolite powder can expedite your results and reduce or eliminate the detox reaction, even in sensitive individuals.

Many liquid zeolite products on the market are outrageously priced. For comparison, our $39 tub of ZeoOne™ contains between 600 and 1200 times the amount of zeolite than most liquid zeolite products on the market.

So I believe ZeoOne™ Dynacol™ Zeolite powder is a better option than any zeolite product on the market as it contains a full range or particle sizes for a more comprehensive detox, is more cost-effective and make it possible to get the necessary detox dose without taking 100's of bottle per day.

Important Note

Everything I have mentioned in this article is based off of my experience and research with ZeoOne™ . I cannot speak to the quality of other zeolite products on the market and these principles may not apply.

Zeolite is a naturally formed mineral, created when volcanic rock and ash meet alkaline water. Zeolite has a unique microporous 'honeycomb' atomic structure with a strong negative charge.

Activated zeolites remove toxins from the body (60% in the bloodstream and 40% in the GI tract), thus helping put the body in an optimal state of health.

Zeolites also have the ability to balance the body’s pH to a more alkaline state. Having a balanced pH has many long term benefits, not the least of which is to create an environment that’s antagonistic to disease; most diseases cannot thrive in an alkaline environment. Acidity creates pre-conditions for cancer as well as viral, bacterial and fungal infections. Once the body is free of the vast toxic load that’s causing chronic illness, and the pH becomes more alkaline, the immune system can deal with things the way it was designed to, often bringing about the most remarkable turnaround in the animal’s overall health.

During its formation the zeolite traps valuable trace minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium within its framework. The zeolite’s porous ‘honeycomb’ structure, stability and strong negative charge allow it to electro-magnetically trap and hold positively-charged particles, such as heavy metals and other toxins. In order to take on positively-charged ions and toxins, it discharges its beneficial trace minerals through the process that is known as cation exchange.

Dynacol™ stands for Dynamic Collision - the world’s most advanced world-wide patented micronisation and activation method used to process zeolite (processed in Australia).

Ball-milling and jet-milling are the conventional methods of micronising and activating zeolite, however they produce a far less efficient product. Dynacol™ is also a vast improvement on TMAZ technology and has taken zeolite benefits once again, to the next level.

The benefits of Dynacol™ technology include producing zeolite that is more reactive, has an increased surface area, and a more efficient particle shape and size. Taking the best zeolite we could source and processing it using Dynacol™ technology ensures that our customers receive the best zeolite products in the world.
