Are you looking for ways to detoxify your skin and defy the ageing process? Zeolite is a mineral that has a huge amount of benefits and is recognised as a superfood. It can be taken in powder, liquid and supplement form, but did you know it can be used topically?
If you’ve never heard about this, get ready to be surprised! In this article we’ll discuss what zeolite is, how it works and how you can add it to your skincare routine to protect your skin and to help draw out impurities.
What is Zeolite?
Zeolite is a mineral that mostly comprises of silica (a trace element) and a little alumina tetrahedra. Formed over 300 million years ago, it’s well known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Zeolite comes in different variations, depending on the environment it formed in. For example, some is created in fresh water, while other types are created after ash and volcanic rock reacts with sea water. During its formation, valuable trace minerals are captured within its structure, such as magnesium, calcium and potassium.
Benefits of Using Zeolite?
No matter how great a skincare routine you have, the surface of the skin is still constantly being bombarded with dirt, toxins and pollution. This is where zeolite can help. It has the ability to trap, hold and release particles, such as heavy metals and toxins, and replace them with the minerals and nutrients that your skin needs.
3 Ways to Use Zeolite for Beautiful Skin
It’s possible to use zeolite as part of a healthy skincare routine. However, just like when trying anything new, do a small patch test on a hidden piece of skin to check for an allergic reaction. If all ok, you can use zeolite to detoxify your skin in these following ways:
- Face mask. Cleanse away impurities with a zeolite face mask. Mix together 2 tablespoons of water with 1 tablespoon of zeolite powder. Rub the mixture all over your face and leave for an hour. Rinse off with lukewarm water, pat dry and enjoy glowing skin.
- Cleanser solution. Mix 1 tablespoon of zeolite powder with 2 tablespoons of a carrier oil such as jojoba or almond oil. Massage into your skin and leave for around a minute. Wash off and finish with a toner and moisturiser.
- Skin exfoliator. Add 1 tablespoon of zeolite powder into a small bowl. Use a soft brush to gently work the powder across your face in a circular motion. Wash your face with warm water and follow with a few splashes of cold water to minimise inflammation. Follow with your favourite moisturiser.
